Story

A Dark Mystery is Unfolding...

Delve into an unsettling adventure following the boy with a prosthetic face and a tragic past. In the first episode, Strange Neighbors, Sally Face and his father move into an apartment filled with odd tenants and an unfortunate crime scene. Little did they know what misfortune still awaits...

Unravel the sinister mysteries of Sally's story to find the truth that lies hidden beneath the shadows.

Gameplay

Story Driven, 2D Sidescrolling Adventure.

Players will interact with Sal's world, the people he meets and even explore his nightmares. The main path typically requires casual effort, with mostly straightforward puzzles. However, there are hidden layers to be uncovered that will invoke a bit of head-scratching, for those players up to the challenge. These include bonus mini games as well as additional narrative.

The game is broken up into shot Episodes. As a one man team, keeping the episodes shorter helps to keep development and gameplay more focused. There are a total of five episodes planned for the final version of Sally Face.

Players can choose between Keyboard or Controller (Xbox 360) options for preferred control method.

Development History

Sally Face was originally a concept for an internet cartoon, back in 2007. The idea was inspired by 1990's Nicktoons but with a darker, more twisted narrative. When my animation team for that project fell apart, the characters and stories sat in my mind for the next few years.

In 2014, after about five years of indie game development with Wither Studios (a company I co-founded after college), I decided to make Sally Face into an adventure game. I kept the same episodic format of the original concept and fleshed out the narrative arc before delving into pre-production in 2015. I only worked on the project in my free time for over a year.

In 2016, I released Episode One: Strange Neighbors. A small IndieGoGo campaign, that Fall, helped get enough funding to go full time on the project. The campaign also gave Sally Face a huge boost in visibility, once it started spreading like fire across YouTube.

A few setbacks in my personal life delayed Episode Two: The Wretched, which released in July 2017. The episode was bigger and better than the first and had great reception from fans and streamers.

Episode Three: The Bologna Incident released in February 2018 and the passionate Sally Face fan base continues to grow bigger every day.
